Attended by a modest number of general members and the entire executive board, the small but important ceremony was quite a pleasant way to spend 2 hours of a Saturday evening.

The ceremony, held in a regular NSU classroom, began with a speech from the 2011-2012 president, Michael Shirsho Das. His illuminating speech was followed by the screening of a brilliant video that captured all the major events of YEF from 2011 and also introduced the former and current Executive Board members. The room filled with applause every time the face of their favorite Executive Board member flashed on the big white screen- one must admit that this signifies the presence of strong bonds.

Beside the current members, the ceremony was graced by the presence of former YEF president Ahmed Abu Bakr and Vice President, Samiha Khan. Ahmed Abu Bakr took the podium to much applause and cheering and enlightened the crowd with his YEF experience:he became a part of the club to gain a certificate that would add weight to his graduate applications and ended up loving and leading it. In the end, he extended a note of thanks to the former executive board, (Tahsin Azmain- Head of Marketing and Public Relations,Michael Shirsho Das- Head of logistics and Administration, Ismail Hossain- General Secretary, Mashnun Hossain – Treasurer) for always having his back and pulling the club out of tight situations and further expressed his love for all the YEFers.[dt_gap height=”15″][dt_fancy_image type=”image” image=”” lightbox=”true” style=”2″ width=”250″ padding=”10″ margin_top=”0″ margin_bottom=”0″ margin_left=”0″ margin_right=”0″ align=”center” animation=”bottom”][dt_gap height=”15″]Saima Khan, the faculty adviser of YEF was also present in the ceremony. She is a former president of YEF and an esteemed alumnus of NSU, and we at YEF could not have been more grateful to her for having agreed to make time for the ceremony in her busy schedule. Saima Khan told the audience how she was forced to join the club by her mother who believed that this would look good as an extracurricular activity on her CV. Despite of everything, she admitted to YEF becoming a big portion of her life and enjoying being a part of YEF’s journey immensely. Saima Khan had a lot of wise words of advice, also ,for the YEFers which included not letting teachers run the show, taking the power in our own hands and not forgetting to make the events fun.

In the end, trophies were distributed to the former president, vice president and the executive board. Elegantly made certificates were also given out to members for their hard work and dedication to events such as Crosstalk, Club Carnival, Budget Analysis and Meeting of the Minds. Everyone left the room, content and happy, with their certificates and great year to look forward to as a YEFer.
